Facts about NHS 24

NHS 24 was founded as a special health board on 6 April 2001. Regional contact centres followed, with Aberdeen the first to launch in May 2002, followed by Clydebank later that year and South Queensferry in 2003.

Our role

From the start, we have delivered phone and online services providing people across Scotland with access to healthcare information and advice. We work in close partnership with all health boards and the Scottish Ambulance Service to provide essential services.
